Plan With Us: First Day Back in January [S3 E77]

Listen to the full episode below:

On last week's episode we talked about getting through the last few weeks of school before winter break. Now that you’ve done that, have you thought about what you’re going to do once you get back? That first week in January is always so difficult for both the students and us teachers to get back into the swing of things. We’re going to help you prepare now so that you aren’t scrambling the day before school is back in session.

Nothing compares to the Sunday Scaries after a long break. It’s pretty much the scariest of all the Sunday scaries. We guarantee that anxiety will decrease if your copies are made and lesson plans are drafted before break starts. This doesn’t mean you have to create an elaborate project or unique idea. Let’s be honest, whatever you teach on that first day will likely have to be retaught anyway. So whether you use them or not, you are doing yourself a disservice if you don’t take the time now to get your plans in order. Trust us now and thank us later!

Topics Covered:

  • Why you should plan ahead for your return from long breaks

  • 2 Factors to consider when planning for the new year

  • What to expect from your students and how to plan accordingly

  • Examples of what a high school lesson would look like
